Job Purpose

IRRI’s gender and livelihoods research unit is implementing several projects including the Evidence Module of the CGIAR Gender, Youth and Social Inclusion Impact Platform; Work Packages on gender and social inclusion in the OneCGIAR initiatives on Gender Equality, Seedqual and Digital Innovations.

This position will support the Research Unit Leader and the gender research team working in these various projects in supporting planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of various project activities,  and managing associated partnerships.

This position is based at Bhubaneswar, Odisha and is only open for the permanent residents of India.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support coordination of CGIAR and non-CGIAR research and development partner grants.
  • Lead CGIAR and donor reporting of projects.
  • Assist research staff in the preparation of reports (program deliverables) and other products for dissemination.
  • Manage program calendars and manage program plans, deliverables, and activities to alert research unit members and collaborators who are working on the programs in order to ensure on time delivery of products and reports.
  • Communicate and respond to program partners and collaborators requests and manage these partnerships.
  • Plan and develop and provide logistical coordination for program meetings.
  • Lead organization of stakeholder and partner workshops as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals and budgets that meet the requirements of donors.
  • Build and maintain collaboration with stakeholders and partners, including research teams.
  • Support coordination with other CG centers for knowledge generation and sharing on gender evidence and impact.
  • Lead organization of stakeholder and partner workshops.
  • Prepare program work plans, program calendar, and timelines.
  • Prepare program budgets in format required by donors.
  • Plan and organise regular project planning and management meetings and maintain program minutes and related materials.
  • Identify staffing and support requirements.
  • Assist researchers to evaluate and select collaborators.
  • Assure that contract documents are prepared and properly signed.
  • Coordinate and liaise with CGIAR and non-CGIAR partners for effective implementation, monitoring and reporting of project activities.
  • Contribute and guide project teams in managing field operations, ensuring quality of data/evidence being generated.
  • Plan and organize workshop, meetings, conferences and, training.
  • Ensure timely delivery of the outputs from partner grants.
  • Monitor level of effort and expenditure of resources against program budgets.
  • Assure that invoices are submitted to program donors in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that invoices are received from partners/grantees and paid in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with IRRI finance team to prepare and submit financial reports in a timely manner.
  • Communicate program requirements and deliverables to researchers and collaborators.
  • Coordinate arrangements and logistics for program meetings.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations.
  • Respond to requests for information about research programs.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in gender or social sciences or business management plus five years of post-Masters relevant experience.

Skills Required

Mandatory

  • Basic understanding of Gender in Ag and food systems and Ag R4D;
  • Knowledge of program management skills:  demonstrated experience in successfully coordinating multiple program activities, managing program deliverables;
  • Experience with project management, including planning, budgeting, physical and financial implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting;
  • Excellent Written and Oral communication skills in English;
  • Demonstrated experience in interacting with stakeholders (donors, governments, non-governmental organizations and research organizations), preferably in an international environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and produce completed products on time;
  • Sound interpersonal skills and team oriented spirit;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams;
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and implement workshops and trainings.

Preferred

  • Understanding of and experience with developing, implementing and reporting and Knowledge Management strategies and plans;
  • Experience with gender integration in R4D projects;
  • Experience with design of projects and programs;
  • Experience with budgeting and financial management and monitoring of projects;
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally as necessary.
