OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The goal of the regional non-communicable diseases programmeis to reduce preventable morbidity, avoidable disability and prematuremortality due to non-communicable diseases in the South-East Asia Region. The Regionalaction plan is guided by a set of principles and lists priority actions alongfour strategic action areas. One of these four strategic action areas, is surveillance, monitoring and evaluation,and research which has key role in achievementof NCD global and regional voluntary targets by 2030 General ObjectiveTo improve the availability, quality and use ofNCD data for efficient and effective support to Member States . Specific ObjectivesTo collect, collate, validate,analyze and translate data into information for evidence based support tomember states on prevention and control of NCDs To make valid evidenceavailable for use in developing efficient and NCD Control policies;

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the day-to-day supervision Coordinator,Research and Innovation and overallguidance of the Director, Healthier Populations and Noncommunicable Diseases, the incumbent will perform the following duties in all data analysis related matters.

  • Management of data andinformation on NCDs including collation, validation and creation and maintenanceof database for the region.
  • Coordinate with WHOcountry offices in the region on data collection, analysis and verification forvarious surveys related to NCDs commissioned by WHO at regional and global level.
  • In consultation withsupervisors, provide data analysis and information including graphicrepresentations requested by technical units in RO, WHO Country offices and Headquarters
  • Management of data andinformation from countries including country reports including e-archiving
  • Validate NCD and MH datareported by Technical Units and WCOs with official sources.
  • Support data analysis forvarious departmental reports and publications
  • Support maintenance andupdate of HPN website as well as NCD dashboard.
  • Track ICT updates and informon the same to all staff in the department and WCO focal points
  • Perform other dutiesas assigned by the supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: Completion of secondary school education.
Desirable: Advanced training in specialized software and/or statistical quality control tools. University Degree in Information Technology or Information Science

Experience

Essential: At least 8 years of experience in data management, data analysis, interpretation and reporting.
Desirable: Experience of working with WHO and/or other UN agencies; working in a multicultural environment and providing support to different countries is an asset.

Skills

Knowledge of data management, data analysis, interpretation, presentation and retrieve the data from different databases. Advanced knowledge of WHO standard software such as Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office Suits including MS Access.

REMUNERATION

WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at INR 1,108,894 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
