ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Consultant, reporting to the CCS Unit’s Policy and Strategy Lead, is expected to:
– Support the setting of a clear definition of WFP’s value proposition and approach to CCS outlining the scope, boundaries and comparative advantages of WFP’s work;
– Participate in the development and project management of a flagship publication on CCS for WFP to support national systems and country capacity strengthening (including project administration, financing, reporting, and support to management of Long-Term Agreement);
– Contribute to the rolling out of the CCS Policy Update costed implementation e.g. support to the development of costed regional roadmaps for implementing the policy;
– Assist in coordinating team efforts for the integration of the policy update across WFP functional and programmatic areas (e.g. coordinating and consolidating team feedback on corporate policies and strategic documents);
– Support with analyzing and summarizing critical inputs relevant to the CCS policy update’s implementation and positioning;
– Support in identifying and managing relations with external research partners and entities as required.
Other activities
– Support with developing key messages, talking points, presentations, briefs and other materials for various internal and external CCS representations to position the CCS Policy update;
– Support the Policy Strategy Lead and/or Head of Unit with other related activities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
University degree in governance, social policy, economics, or other field relevant to international development.
Experience:
At least 2 years of progressively responsible relevant national and/or international work experience that demonstrates increasing responsibility and growth. Experience in capacity development and/or change management is beneficial.
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong organization, time and project management skills with the ability to plan ahead; anticipate requirements, problems and obstacles; juggle competing priorities successfully; manage administrative tasks, and work to meet tight deadlines.
• Proven research and analytical and strong writing abilities to articulate clear, logical and convincing positions on complex issues.
• Highly collaborative and able to liaise with a wide range of people across different cultures and to act with credibility and diplomacy.
• Self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy.
• Attention to detail in editing and formatting written products (including graphic PowerPoint presentations and textual documents).
• Willing to work in and travel to different field locations if required for a work mission.
• Knowledge of institutional capacity strengthening, change management or social innovation concepts is desirable.
Language:
Fluency in written and spoken English required. Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language is beneficial.
