Position Overview

This position works within the MEAL Team engaging with partner reports to support a culture and practice of reliable, complete, and quality reports by partners. The MEAL Programme Assistant will spearhead the follow-up and technical support for partner reporting. They will also be responsible for systematizing the data from reports (internal and external) in preparation for further analysis. Internally they will support diverse donor reporting and proposal obligations.

The purpose of the position is to work closely with the MEAL Programme Officer. This position will work as part of MEAL Portfolio to support the culture and practice of reliable, complete and quality reports by grantee partners. This includes following up, validating quality of reports, and uploading grantees reports for further analysis.

Specific Responsibilities –

  • Assist the MEAL Programme Officer to periodically review and update the partners’ reports for effective program delivery
  • Support partners and staff to utilise MEAL tools that are relevant to the work of UAF-Africa
  • In consultation with the MEAL Programme Officer, identify capacity deficits and train partners in use of appropriate MEAL techniques as a strategy of strengthening capacity
  • Work closely with the MEAL Programme Officer and Solidarity & Support Team to ensure effective MEAL processes within Rapid Response Grant Making (RRGM)
  • Follow-up with partners on the submission of quality narrative and financial reports for effective documentation
  • Maintaining open and fluid communications with all partners and other stakeholders
  • Collect data from partners on a regular basis to measure achievements against the proposals submitted
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

Reporting and Documentation

  • Assist MEAL Programme Officer to identify grants with potential most significant change stories and collaborate with Communications Team for documentation
  • Bi-lingual reporting (sound professional working language skills in both English and French are required for this role).
  • Collate data from relevant sources and portfolios in the funder proposals and report writing process.
  • Support internal documentation process

Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in MEAL, Statistics, Economics or Performance Management, Research Methods or any other related field.

Skills and Experience

  • 4-6 years overall experience with at least 1-2 years’ experience in Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • Working knowledge of feminist and women’s rights organisations and movements
  • An appreciation of gender equality and women’s rights issues, particularly in the African settings
  • Ability to evaluate and synthesize data for information generation and reporting.
  • Ability to interface sensitively with people from various social, economic, political, cultural and religious backgrounds
  • Partners program budget and financial monitoring skills
  • Familiarity with grant making is an added advantage
  • Experience working with Impact mapper software an added advantage.
  • Good communication skills in both English and French language
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
  • High level of integrity and commitment.
