Purpose

As part of the Corporate Social Responsibility Division (CSR), you will implement best practices in sustainability matters, especially within the EU sustainable finance framework, as well as relevant international frameworks, and further the Bank’s group-wide reporting and auditing of the reports of environmental, social and governance matters (ESG/Sustainability).

Operating Network

You will report to the Head of the Division and liaise with all the other officers in the division and department. You will work in frequent and close contact with internal and external stakeholders. Internally, you will have interactions with other Directorates across the European Investment Bank as well as the European Investment Fund (the EIB Group).

Accountabilities

  • Work and lead on relevant parts of the reporting of sustainability, and sustainability related issues, including on a Group-wide level
  • Further the Bank’s performance in the reporting and auditing of environmental, social and governance matters (ESG/Sustainability)
  • Advance the Bank’s performance by leading parts of the reporting and auditing of environmental, social and governance matters (ESG/Sustainability) by working on the reporting of sustainability, and sustainability related issues, including on a Group-wide level
  • Progress and implement EIB`s reporting responsibilities within the EU legislative framework on Sustainable Finance, encompassing NFRD, CSRD, European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), EU Taxonomy, and TCFD
  • Follows-up and report on latest developments in Corporate Responsibility and sustainable development regulations and standards, reporting and disclosure issues at, both, the EU and international levels
  • Liaise with other IFIs; EU institutions, bodies, agencies and offices; UN organizations on best practice in corporate responsibility
  • Contribute to the management and development of a constructive relation with stakeholders and serv as an EIB liaison with various external groups. Ensure excellent communication, build and develop external networks and identify broader opportunities for CR initiatives in order to promote the EIB
  • Initiate and implement activities that further the corporate responsibility of the organization and strengthen its reputation
  • Formulates strategic recommendations in your area of responsibility

Qualifications

  • University degree, preferably in sciences, management, economics, business administration or similar and ideally with an emphasis on environmental matters;
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the sustainability area.
  • Relevant experience gained within Finance/banking would be an asset;
  • Very good understanding of corporate responsibility;
  • Good understanding of finance/sustainable finance, and of the sustainability landscape at large;
  • Knowledge of corporate responsibility, sustainability issues and best practice in sustainability measurement and reporting;
  • An understanding of the EU legislative framework on Sustainable Finance, encompassing NFRD, and most recently the CSRD, European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), EU Taxonomy, TCFD would be preferable
  • Knowledge of key actors within the sustainability and corporate responsibility landscape;
  • Demonstrable understanding of the Bank’s mission and business framework
  • Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (*), with a good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
