CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a talented individual to work with us in the Mexico Office to support daily activities for the subnational programme.

The assignment will include the followings but not limited to:

  • Support programs, projects and actions related to the subnational area in México, in alignment with GGGI Mexico’s Country Programme Framework;
  • Support subnational entities to issue a thematic bond to access financial sources by developing frameworks and advancing negotiations with international counterparts;
  • Identify voluntary carbon market opportunities to offset residual GHG emissions (ex. Chihuahua, Monterrey);
  • Participate in the development of electric mobility strategies;
  • Support projects execution consistent with their objectives engaging national counterparts and building reputation for quality design and reliable delivery;
  • Provide planning, logistical, and technical support in the organization, development of strategic events related to the subnational programme;
  • Participate in any other ad hoc relevant activities deemed necessary for the development of GGGI’s México programme.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
  • Although all candidates are eligible to apply, strong preference will be given to candidates already living in Mexico from engineering, environmental science, technical, economics and/or finance backgrounds.
  • Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work
  • Possess an excellent command of English.

QUALIFICATION

  • Basic notions and passion for sustainable development and climate agendas;
  • Prior experience and familiarity with the following topics in Mexico are an asset: low-carbon development strategies, subnational policies and green infrastructure;
  • Experience organising and coordinating events, developing communication materials (design) is an asset.
  • Proficiency with MS-Office;
  • Reliability, team spirit, flexibility, and empathy for intercultural dialogue;
  • Excellent time and autonomy (self-management) skills;
  • Excellent research and analytical skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish.
