Job Description

What you will do: 

  1. Direct management of the UDOC/Protection team, setting clear objectives for team members and indicators to monitor performance
  2. Ensure compliance with community outreach, protection monitoring, community-based protection and individual protection assistance, tools, guidelines and standards
  3. Contribute to UDOC/Protection core competency strategy development and provide input on needs and gaps from his/her geographical and programmatic area of implementation
  4. Manage and implement a delegated portfolio of projects (activities, budget and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies, and donor requirements – ensure high technical quality, under the direct supervision of the APM
  5. Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in project activities
  6. Ensure capacity building of project staff, local partners and transfer key skills
  7. Cooperate with relevant partners and stakeholders (i.e. local authorities, other humanitarian organizations, and volunteer groups) when and as requested by the APM/AM
  8. Promote the rights of refugees in line with NRC’s advocacy strategy

What you will bring: 

•    Minimum 3 years of relevant experience within protection (ideally protection monitoring and case management) and community outreach work, including communication with communities, community based protection, social cohesion and community initiated projects
•    Technical specific knowledge on protection, ideally in the framework of humanitarian programs
•    Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
•    Fluency in English, both written and verbal
•    Good working knowledge of the mandates and modalities of the international humanitarian sector
•    Experience of coordination and advocacy work
•    Good understanding of humanitarian compliance vis-à-vis donors and accountability to donors and affected populations
