Responsibilities

  • Supports in providing technical and program oversight of Surveillance, support TA program are effectively and efficiently implemented
  • Support development of project activity/ work planning, project implementation, budget development and tracking within established policies and ensure compliance with specifications and resources
  • Develop framework for tracking of project and monitoring implementation.
  • Support the project team to track, record and analyze data for reporting and timely communicate the results of analysis to inform program decision making.
  • Works with the Project leadership in communicating with donors and partners about the project
  • Support collaborations between NCDC and other relevant implementation and/or funding partners.
  • Support implementation of specific projects, documenting and reviewing health systems aspects relevant to Global health security.
  • Organize performance management meetings and engagement of stakeholders and project leads to ensure integrity and accountability of the program.
  • Manage communications and help build positive relations within the team and external parties to ensure achievement of the scheme’s objectives.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops, meetings, coordinate logistics, scheduling, and participant communications.
  • Ensure that project activities are executed successfully, completed within time frames and project scope achieved in quality
  • Contribute to scientific writing for development of manuscripts for publication and presentations as necessary
  • Remain informed on the current programs in Global health security fields by review of current literature and is alert to any implication of such strategic information for project activities.
  • Ensure that Jhpiego and GHS projects delivers on all its promises to donors and other stakeholders (achieve set targets, deliver quality services) – Liaise with multiple stakeholders and collaborators to improve program efficiencies
  • Support the NCDC Surveillance unit activity schedules, planning, reporting and coordination
  • Engage with PCU, Jhpiego and NACA on Surveillance and other technical activities coordination
  • Support GoN stakeholder’s engagement between PR, SRs and other partners for effective collaborations, engagement and inclusion
  • Draft and follow-up of correspondences with relevant parties.
  • Develop, compile, and write communications, create presentations, summaries, and materials to ensure better communication and wider understanding of the Gavi-supported program.
  • Assume other duties as assigned by NCDC Surveillance Director and Jhpiego GHS team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in epidemiology, public health, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience in public health operations; masters-level degree preferred
  • 3-5 years practical experience of leading or coordinating collaborative field-based research studies. Having previous experience of working with NCDC is an added advantage.
  • Technical knowledge in epidemiology, clinical or laboratory fields
  • Evidence of having worked effectively both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary scientific team.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and a willingness to work with others to overcome problems as and when they arise.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and co-ordinate between colleagues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.
  • Familiarity with Nigeria’s health systems and reporting structure and demonstrated ability to collaborate with government level officials to strengthen program implementation
  • Demonstrated ability in working and collaborating with a wide range of local and international partner organizations.

Required Abilities/Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining donor relations;
  • Excellent skills in facilitation, team building and coordination;
  • Excellent writing and communications skills, including demonstrated technical writing skills for publication;
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse international teams and willingness to learn and empower others;
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform;
