Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee (www.rescue.org) is a world leader in relief, rehabilitation, and post-conflict development services for those affected by violent conflict and oppression. The IRC is currently working in over 40 countries around the world, addressing both the immediate and lifesaving needs of conflict affected people in emergencies and the reconstruction needs of post-conflict societies.
The IRC began programming in northern Uganda in 1998 in response to mass displacement and devastation Brought by rebel group, the Lord’s Resistance Army. In 2002, the IRC expanded to the remote, conflict-affected region of Karamoja and in 2011, began working with refugees in Kampala. Monitoring the influx of South Sudanese refugees at the end of 2015, the IRC began scaling up its response to refugees arriving in the West Nile region.
By promoting durable solutions that deliver on the interdependent aims of saving lives, strengthening institutions, and supporting social cohesion, the IRC in Uganda is laying the building blocks for long-term stability and development –bringing people from harm to home.
The IRC currently works in 8 districts in Uganda, including, Lamwo, Kyegegwa, Moroto, Amudat, Yumbe, Arua, Kasese and Kampala.
The IRC is currently implementing its health and nutrition program in West Nile and Acholi focusing on providing primary health care services to refugees in their settlements.
Job Overview:
This position will support the management of the study in the field, including overseeing the quantitative data collection process, with responsibilities for organizing interviews, tracking progress, overseeing data checks, and processes for data entry.
The position holder will report to the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Lamwo, with regular communication to headquarters research staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Facilitating training of the CHWs on SEL and sharing of the messages, including troubleshooting any phone-based messaging
•Organizing data collection sessions with CHWs and supporting use of any technology by CHWs for data collection
•Providing feedback to IRC research staff: on the progress of data collection and outstanding interviews, data quality checks, and any problems emerging from the data which need to be addressed in the field.
•Supporting logistical planning for data collection as appropriate in collaboration with health staff.
•Providing feedback on issues and problems related to data collection and compiling these into to field reports for research staff.
•Ensure safeguards of confidentiality are in place and are upheld by everyone involved in the data collection.
•Sending a weekly update to IRC HQ of the field reports, tracking documents, and data.
•Regular meetings with supervisor to inform of progress and emerging issues, and regular phone check-ins with IRC HQ.
•Additional tasks as required to ensure the smooth implementation of quantitative data collection.
Profil :
•Degree in Statistics, Economics, Development Studies & other related fields.
•At least two years’ work experience
•Experience using electronic data entry platforms.
•Previous survey experience.
•Familiarity with smartphone and tablet operations and applications
•Fluency in English + Good communication skills.
•Detail oriented.
•Experience in MHPSS or Educational content testing or research
