OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
To support countries in the WHO African Region to provide high quality immunization services that will contribute to: (a) the reduction of mortality, morbidity and disability from vaccine preventable diseases through the optimum use of available and new vaccines and (b) the strengthening of national health systems.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The incumbent will :– Support overall data management for polio and immunization programmes;- Produce feedback and information bulletins;- Support capacity building of data managers and data users at IST and country levels;- Support the development, maintenance and updating of databases related to the PEP;- Support production and updating (reviewing) of data modules used at different levels based on programme needs;- Provide technical support for improving data quality in the ISTs and countries;- Compile and provide data for analysis, including but not limited to generating reports, tables, graphs and maps; – Assist in compilation of accountability framework data for monitoring staff performance using expected deliverables and key performance indicators;- Perform other related responsibilities as assigned, including replacing and backstopping for others as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: University degree in computer science, information technology, communications or related field.
Desirable: Post graduate training in health informatics.
Experience
Essential: Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the design of databases, data collection and reporting;
Desirable: At least three (3) years’ demonstrable experience in management of databases for polio or immunization programmes.
