You will work as part of a team responsible for providing patient transport in a safe, comfortable, and sympathetic manner, observing road and driving conditions at all times. The role involves driving and assisting as part of a crew, patients with different requirements based on their mobility classification.

Your warm, caring nature and positive attitude will bring comfort to patients. You’ll be sensitive when working with vulnerable people and have no trouble going the extra mile to make them feel comfortable, safe and cared for.
Your previous customer service experience, as well as understanding and awareness of the differing physical needs of our service users and a genuine interest in their well-being; will help people in your local community.

Our services are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and we apply the same standards to our service delivery across the whole of the UK. Our fleet and equipment are comparable with those deployed by NHS services.

We’re a close-knit team united by one goal – to make every moment matter to our services users when they need us most.

The role of Ambulance Care Assistant might be for you if you have:

  • A full driving licence which allows you to operate a manual transmission vehicle (please note that, due to vehicle insurance policy requirements, applicants must have held their licence for a minimum of two full years).
  • You can bring your strong customer service or patient caring skills to the British Red Cross.
  • Flexible – comfortable working 12-hour shifts including unsocial hours, bank holidays, evenings and weekends as required. Our service runs 7 days a week, day and night. We will provide you with a rota in advance for you to choose what shifts you can help cover.
Closing date for applications is (23:59) on Wednesday 9th August 2023.
Interviews are expected to take place during the week commencing Monday 4th September 2023. Interviews will be face to face in Hillington, including an element of driving assessment. Training will start on Friday 22nd September 2023.
