About the Role:
After 7 great years with myAgro, our current Country Director is moving on to another professional opportunity. We are now searching for an Interim Country Director to take over in the short-term (3-6 months) while we complete our search for a permanent Country Director for Senegal.
myAgro is looking for an experienced Interim Country Director to manage and lead the team as we kick off the 2023/24 season with a goal to reach 180,000 farmers! You will guide 1-2 Deputy Country Directors, a Senior Sales Manager and a matrixed management team (Logistics, Finance, HR, Technology, Agriculture and Admin) to scale effectively in existing and new districts, including building stronger partnerships that drive significant and measurable growth and impact.
This is a compelling opportunity for a seasoned Country Director to join a respected data-driven organization during a period of scale as we look to grow the number of village-entrepreneurs (our sales team on the ground) we support in the country to more than 5,000 by 2026. Our farmer goal is to grow from 80,000 today in Senegal to 600,000 farmers in the next 3 years. Your support to get the 2023/24 season successfully launched will be a key to long-term success of the program.
The Interim Country Director will also be a primary contributor driving organizational effectiveness, implementing a road-map of sales acceleration, and setting the future for sustainable expansion.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, have demonstrable people management skills, and has a proven track record of strong problem solving.
Note on location: The headquarters for Senegal’s operations is in Thies. The Country Director is expected to work from Thies at least 3 days a week, and the other 2 days can be from our Dakar Global Headquarters. A free shuttle travels between Dakar and Thies every morning between our two offices.
You Will:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- New season launch and management. Lead and support the launch of the 2023/24 season following the season launch work plan and ensuring that all team members are ready for their roles and understand all goals and deadlines.
- Lead, grow, and develop a high-performing team. Directly manage several director-level staff while guiding a matrixed team of further senior managers. Monitor team performance against benchmarks and promote and increase accountability across the organization to deliver excellent, joyous customer experiences to our farmers.
- Oversee financial management. Ensure that the planning, control of expenditure and disbursement of resources is in accordance with established procedures and maintain the financial and legal integrity of the organization.
- Organizational leadership. Represent myAgro within and outside the organization to various stakeholders. Be an exceptional communicator and role model of myAgro values and vision of agricultural development.
You Have:
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & ATTRIBUTES
- Executive leader. You have senior leadership experience guiding and managing large teams and organizations.
- Track record leading country operations. You have at least 3 years of experience leading country operations at a similar organization. You have provided leadership, direction and management of teams in West Africa, particularly those with revenue/payment targets.
- Team leader and builder. You know how to motivate people and offer guidance and opportunities that help staff learn, grow, and thrive. You have effectively managed teams in a matrix environment. You know how to build a culture of high performance.
- Dynamic and results-oriented. You can manage through growth, enjoy aspiring to new targets and the journey of daily ambition and drive. You understand what it means to work in a fast-growing organization that is innovative. You are determined, decisive, proactive, credible, and delivery oriented.

- Bilingual fluency in French and English.
