Functions

You will:

  • Acquire books and other scientific documents;
  • Take responsibility for the interlibrary loan service;
  • Take part in cataloguing, curation and ingestion of metadata in catalogues and repositories;
  • Train library apprentices;
  • Take part in and organize library desk shift activities and online support;
  • Respond to enquiries related to the CERN Scientific Archives;
  • Edit content for the website https://scientific-info.cern/ .

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of information science or a related field.

Experience:

  • Familiarity with information management systems;
  • Initial experience in a scientific or higher education library is a plus.

Technical competencies:

  • Library and documentation management;
  • Customer service;
  • Configuration and use of information management systems;
  • Digitizing collections;
  • Archiving and records management.

  • Communicating effectively: ensuring that information, procedures and decisions are appropriately documented;
  • Learning and sharing knowledge: proposing ways to improve or streamline existing procedures, processes and methodologies;

Language skills:

Spoken and written English or French: ability to draw up technical texts in one of the two languages, as well as ability to understand and speak the other language in professional contexts.
