MSF International is looking for an EDI Officer to facilitate and support the implementation of MSF International EDI Strategic Roadmap, mainstream EDI in MSF International, advise managers and staff at MSF International and support collaboration across the Movement on EDI.

As delegated by the Secretary General, the Director of Resources is responsible for the implementation of the Roadmap and will supervise the EDI Officer.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The EDI Officer will implement and monitor the MSF International Strategic Roadmap and will

  • Implement the EDI Workplan as prepared for the strategic roadmap
  • Follow-up the implementation of the EDI Workplan and provide progress report quarterly
  • Develop metrics to assess the results of the MSF International EDI initiatives and benchmarking initiatives against evolving best practices;
  • Coordinate the development of a group of EDI Ambassadors in the IO and the AC who will support mainstreaming EDI to increase the sense of belonging across 33 countries MSF International has staff

The EDI Officer will be responsible of key deliverable of the roadmap and will

  • Organize and Facilitate regular EDI forum to create safe space for dialogue on EDI
  • Develop and deliver EDI Training and tailored facilitated workshop to all group of staff
  • Audit MSF international policies, including recruitment practices, provide recommendation to remove barriers and improve policies and practices

The EDI Officer will support and provide strategic advice to the IO and AC Leadership to:

  • Ensure that MSF International advances EDI in support of its social mission and lead by examples for all OC sections and associations.
  • Mainstream EDI in all the functions, activities, processes, policies, communications, actions and culture of the organisation (eg. Through collaboration with International HR, Communication and fundraising, Access to Medicine, International Operations, MedOps etc.).
  • Ensure that EDI is fully integrated into all departments and activities including International Board, General Secretariat, Medical Secretary, HR, Finance, Communications, Privacy and Knowledge Management, as well as platforms coordination’s.

The EDI Officer will support and provide strategic advice to staff on EDI initiative and issues, including staff representatives, HR department, Person of Trust and the Intersectional Platforms on Behaviors (IPOB)

The EDI Officer will be a key contributor within MSF EDI Community of Practice and will

  • Liaise regularly with the EDI Community Facilitator in his/her tasks to contribute to build the EDI Repository of Knowledge, Sharing & Learning across MSF, to develop EDI metrics for MSF movement, to manage a pool of EDI experts/speakers and to ensure lively community of practices among MSF EDI officers;
  • Advocate on diversity, inclusion and equity initiatives and issues, liaising with other stakeholders across MSF Movement;
  • Upon request and if time allows, provide advice and targeted assistance to MSF Entities and units which requires support in mainstreaming EDI.

Job requirements

  • 5+ years of academic or professional background in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Familiarity with Development and Humanitarian Action sector
  • Understanding of cultural differences and local contexts with regards to drivers, interpretation and implementation of EDI concepts and being able to look at issues from various equity, inclusion, and sense of belonging standpoints
  • Demonstrated expertise building collaborations between internal stakeholders across all functions. Expert ability to work with diverse groups of staff.
  • Track record of program implementation, strategic planning, and managing across multiple important priorities/stakeholders.
  • Planning and project management capabilities in a fast-pace changing environment
  • Expert influencing skills. Proven ability to support and empower those who are less experienced in leading conversations about diversity and inclusion to build capacity in equity leadership.
  • Team-player with cooperation, coordination and change management skills, who also is able to work independently.
  • Communication skills:

– Verbal and written; ability to prepare and facilitate meetings and workshops, ensuring a safe and constructive context for participants;

– Coaching knowledge with various methods on handling difficult dialogues around race and racism including experience on “inclusive leadership” approaches

– Interpersonal skills with flexibility in adapting communication through self-, social and cross-cultural capability; open, empathetic with keen emotional intelligence;

– Mandatory bi/ multi-lingual: English, Arabic, French, Spanish…
