Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural disasters. MSF International is the legal entity that binds MSF’s 23 sections, 25 associations and other offices together. Based in Geneva, MSF International provides coordination, information and support to the MSF movement, and implements international projects and initiatives as requested.

 

POSITION BACKGROUND

Access to adapted and affordable medical products is critical to meeting the health needs of the populations MSF assists. MSF has launched a multi-step consultation and analysis process to help redefine its strategy to improving access to health products used for medical care. The project is nearing completion requiring final consultations and design of a proposal for a new organisational model to deliver MSF ambitions to improve access to products for healthcare.

MSF International is looking for a Senior analysis and consultation Officer. The maximum estimated number of days for this consultancy is 80 days between April and August 2022, the position can be shared between 2 part-time consultants and candidates who do not have full time capacity are invited to apply.

 

PLACE IN THE ORGANISATION

The consultant is supervised by the AM Project Leader and works closely with the other project team members.

 

PURPOSE OF THE CONSULTANCY

In order to finalise the objectives of MSF’s new strategy on access to health products, the purpose of this work is to organize the consultations and conduct the analysis of their output to inform the re-design of the proposal for MSF’s organisational model to improve access to products for healthcare .

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLE

In close collaboration and under the guidance of the Project Leader, and drawing the expertise, views and perspectives and support of other team members and MSF key stakeholders, the Consultant main responsibilities are:

  • Oversee the design of the final consultations and the design of analysis
  • Responsible for the analysis of all relevant input

The consultant will also:

  • Conduct interviews, facilitate groups discussions and set-up surveys and/or questionnaires as required
  • Advise and support on the re-design/improvement to the draft proposal
  • Undertake relevant organisational practices mapping as required
  • Provide recommendations and acts as an adviser to the Project Leader
  • Support on other duties as per the project’s requirements

Job requirements

  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in conducting qualitative research, surveys and interviews with stakeholders with diverse backgrounds and synthetising outcomes in a multifaceted and diverse stakeholder environment
  • Demonstrated experience in participatory and inclusive methodologies and approaches for qualitative data collection
  • Demonstrated experience of producing high quality, succinct reports with clear recommendations
  • Experience in facilitating workshops with people from diverse backgrounds (e.g. different positions and roles, cultures, language, geographical locations, etc.)
  • Excellent written and presentation skills addressing audiences with diverse backgrounds
  • Experience working for international humanitarian or development not for profit organisations
  • Experience in working in a multi-cultural, diverse environment
  • Excellent knowledge of various ways in which people communicate
  • Commitment to and experience of advancing equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace
  • Availability to start working from April 2022
