HI is engaged in supporting the Ukrainian population affected by the war: since February 28, two teams left for Ukraine and the neighboring countries to analyze the context, the security, and the needs.
To date, HI continues the implementation of its program in two countries, Ukraine and Moldova, with 155 staff (expatriates and staff recruited on the spot).
More than any other, HI ensures that humanitarian actions are inclusive, allowing the most vulnerable populations (people with disabilities, elderly, sick, injured) to have access to the help they need. With a focus on physical rehabilitation, psychosocial support, shelter, access to food, water, and sanitation, explosive remnants of war risk education, and advocacy.

In response to critical health needs exacerbated by damage to health infrastructure, movement bans due to ongoing conflict, and targeting health facilities in certain areas, HI aims to improve access to quality physical rehabilitation and mental health and psychosocial services (MHPSS for conflict-affected vulnerable populations ( including the injured) while strengthening the capacity of existing health structures.

HI is hiring a Functional and Physical Technical Officer who will be based in Dnipro for a 4 month mission starting mid-august.

Description :

Under the responsibility of the Hospital Project Manager, the Rehabilitation Technical Officer contributes to the implementation of Humanity & Inclusion’s mandate and 10-year strategy in his or her home country. He/she contributes to the implementation of projects by providing technical expertise and ensuring that the quality and impact of the project(s) concerned is optimized. He works closely with the program’s technical team.

For this purpose, the Rehab TO will:
• Provide guidance and technical support to project managers and field staff in collaboration with Rehabilitation Specialist in accordance with the overall technical frameworks and standards within the rehabilitation sector. The Rehab TO will aslos support capacity development of national rehabilitation staff through assessments, mentoring and training.

• Provide technical learning from projects. Collect the elements necessary for any planned capitalization or scientific documentation exercises. Provide reports and reflections on all training sessions that are implemented, to contribute to technical learning. Contributes to rehabilitation technical learning under the responsibility of the specialist based on good practice. Contribute to the terms of reference for evaluations. Implement recommendations for improving the technical quality of the rehabilitation components of projects.

• Contribute to the animation of the rehabilitation sector: Recruitment, training, skills upgrading plan of rehab staffs…

• Contribute to ensuring HI’s technical influence within its perimeter: represent HI’s technical expertise in relevant local networks and with local partners under the guidance of the rehabilitation specialist. Contribute to the strengthening of referral pathways into existing rehabilitation services.

Particularities :

Based in Dnipro (with potential visits to other areas in the East).
The security in Dnipro city and surroundings area of intervention remain relatively stable, although air alarms tend to disrupt work and out of activities.
Dnipro being a large Humanitarian hub for the East, numerous international organizations are located in the city and social life (restaurant, café) is possible under a strict curfew (23:00 to 06:00). Good quality international and local food is available, with several malls and lots of different restaurants at walking distance from the hotel and office. Communication (phone, mobile data, internet) is working well. HI currently has 14 international staffs in Dnipro.

Experiences

• You hold a Degree in physiotherapy or occupational therapy;
• You have at least 2 years of clinical experience and experience in emergency humanitarian settings (trauma and burnt patients);
• You have an experience in CBR;
• You have an experience in technical training.

• You are fluent in english;
• You are resistant to stress and uncertainty;
• You are reactive and flexible.
