Background :

The preliminary results of the July 2020 ZIMVAC rural assessment show a further deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the country with the outbreak of COVID-19 further aggravating the situation and the operational context. The current nutrition emergency response targets over 1 million children and their caregivers in all the districts across the country. The upcoming lean season(November 2020 to March 2021) will further worsen the current nutrition needs of the children and call for renewed effort on the nutrition response side. UNICEF current.

The current 7.5MUS$ UNICEF nutrition humanitarian response plan (HRP) is led by the Nutrition Manager and the Nutrition Specialist while a nutrition cluster coordinator and an information management officer lead the nutrition cluster side.

It is against this background that the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Zimbabwe Country Office is looking for an Information Management Officer (IMO), who will provide critical support to the monitoring of the nutrition cluster response, build capacity of partners in reporting data management as well as support the development of the up-coming 2021 Humanitarian Need Overview and Humanitarian Response Plan in coordination with the nutrition cluster coordinator and OCHA. In the proposed 6 months consultancy (until the end of the lean season) the consultant will be assessed based on the deliverables in the TOR.

 

Purpose of the assignment :

The Information Management Officer is a core Nutrition Cluster Coordination team member. The purpose of this post is to manage the collection, analysis and sharing of information that is important for the nutrition cluster participants to make informed (evidence based) strategic decisions.

 

Assignments :

The Information Management Officer (IMO), will lead in tracking and reporting on nutrition indicators on a weekly and monthly basis as well as provide nutrition input to the UNICEF Sitreps when required. The consultant will also continue to provide technical support to the Nutrition Surveillance and data quality improvement as well as capacity building of partners, monitoring implementation and supporting documentation of lessons learnt on Nutrition Data Quality improvement. Consultancy requirements :

Education : MSc in Nutrition, MPH or related field.

Experience :

  • At least five years of progressively responsible professional work experience in Nutrition Programming ;
  • Knowledge of humanitarian and development issues ;
  • Ability to work within various teams and be able to contribute to the overall success of that team ;
  • Ability to demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach to work ;
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English.
